- Ziphius from the greek xiphos "sword",
cavirostris from the latin cavum and rostrum "with a
hollow rostrum"; so "rostrum long and hollow".

- Medium lenght 6 mt, maximum
7,6 mt, medium weight 3 t maximum 6 t. |
ASPECT
- Stocky body; laterally compressed small head; small melon
and short rostrum; arcuated jaw (such as a smile) and protruding
regarding the jaw; furrows such as a V under the throat zone; air-hole
in vertical position on the eyes lightly on the left; triangular
small dorsal fin a little arcuated; large tail; small and thin fins (if
adherent to the body re-enter in appropriate recess).

SKIN
and COLORATION - Scratched and spotted (frequently on males,
probably the result of competitions with other males), from grey dark
to tawny (with differences between males and females), back and
head clear and dark zone around to the eye; black young people with abdomen
clearly.
